Inspiration
Kids are naturally drawn to bright colours but if you’re decorating a space that’s shared by a boy and a girl, you may have to re-think their request to paint the walls their favourite colour. The key to creating a gender-neutral space that still ignites the little ones’ imaginations is to create a canvas and work from there, incorporating colours through accessories, bed linens and artwork.
Warm neutrals like cream and warm stone are versatile shades that can be easily mixed and matched with dashes of other colours, such as reds, pinks, greens or greys. Cool neutrals and white come to life when paired with blues, turquoise, deep purple or lime. Use your kids’ favourite colours to divide the space by painting feature walls, furniture and alcoves.
